Aquatics

Before making any long-term decisions, the Board conducted a market study and had conversations with potential community partners to explore what might be possible. Financial considerations were a key factor in this evaluation. Even with long-term operational partners, the projected annual subsidy remained significant—at least $150,000 for an outdoor pool operating approximately an 80-day season, and closer to $500,000 annually for an indoor facility. Additionally, no partners were able to contribute toward the upfront capital costs of construction, which made the overall financial picture even more challenging.

Given these factors, the level of ongoing subsidy combined with the upfront capital investment are not feasible within the District’s financial plan. so aquatics is unfortunately not part of the current strategic direction (May 13, 2025). That said, circumstances and opportunities can evolve, and we are always evaluating recreation trends and community needs.
