Specialty Programs

Belvidere Park District Special Recreation offers a variety of School Age Specialty Programs. The purpose of these programs are to help participants increase independence, gain social skills alongside peers & in the community, and to learn a variety of recreation based activities. In an effort to better serve our participants, programs based on age. This allows staff to take a more individualized approach when instructing programs, keep activities age & ability appropriate, maximize the overall experience for everyone involved.

YOUTH

Youth Programs are the beginning of the recreation experience for many of our participants. These programs offer youth the experience of many new activities that can be done with friends or independently in their own leisure time. Youth programs also assist participants in gaining self-confidence with peers and during community outings or activities.

TEEN

Teen Specialty Programs were added to the Belvidere Park District Special Recreation offerings in the Winter/Spring 2013 program guide. These programs are currently limited, but we are looking forwarding to expanding each season. Teen programs are the stepping stones for transition into Special Recreation-Belvidere Adult Programming. During teen programs, participants are challenged more to use their community awareness, social, independent and over night trip living skills.
