BELVIDERE PUMP TRACK PROJECT

Proposed Pump Track
A $300,000 Investment in Youth, Health & Community Strength

A Modern Recreation Space Belvidere Needs

Belvidere and Boone County offer great playgrounds and youth sports for younger children — but older kids and teens have limited safe, structured outdoor recreation options. There is a clear gap in outdoor entertainment and opportunities for children and teens once they age out of playgrounds and early youth sports.

A paved pump track fills that gap with a safe, modern, and inclusive space for riding, gathering, and growing. The proposed location is Prairie Fields Sports Park.

What We’re Building

A paved pump track is a continuous loop of rollers and berms designed for bikes, scooters, and skateboards. It’s accessible, low-maintenance, and built for all ages and skill levels.

Key Features

  • Asphalt pump track with multiple riding lines
  • Safe, predictable riding surface
  • Suitable for bikes, scooters, and skateboards
  • Family-friendly design with seating and gathering areas
  • Minimal long-term maintenance
  • Proven success in nearby communities like Madison and Janesville

Why It Matters for Youth

A pump track is more than a riding space — it’s a youth development engine.

  • Physical Health: Builds balance, strength, and cardiovascular fitness
  • Mental Health: Encourages confidence, progression, and resilience
  • Community Safety: Provides a designated place to ride, reducing risky behavior
  • Accessibility: Free, open, inclusive, and welcoming to all ages and abilities
  • Positive Social Space: A safe gathering spot for teens and families

Project Budget: $300,000

This investment covers:

  • Professional pump track construction
  • Asphalt surfacing
  • Earthwork, drainage, and site preparation
  • Design and engineering
  • Safety signage and youth programming
  • Long-term maintenance fund
  • Optional enhancements shown in the concept sketch
