The Belvidere Park District will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Baltic Mill, 920 W. Lincoln Avenue, Belvidere, Illinois.
The public is invited to review and discuss the proposed Prairie Fields Accessible Recreation and Support Amenities Project. The project includes replacement of the existing front playground with a playground featuring universal amenities and poured-in-place accessible surfacing, construction of a standalone restroom support amenity containing two accessible single-user restrooms, and completion of the parking lot support amenity with accessible parking and connections.
The estimated project cost is $520,000. The District intends to request $260,000 through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development Grant Program. The remaining project funding would consist of District capital funds and other grant contributions.
Conceptual plans and project information will be available for review. Members of the public are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and provide comments regarding the proposed improvements. Those unable to attend may submit comments by email to contactus@belviderepark.org.
Individuals requiring accommodations to participate should contact the Belvidere Park District at 815-547-5711.
